The border to insanity

Day 31. Tuesday the 02/08-05

Manfred and I shared a coupe on the train and we were both woken up after merely four hours of sleep. Two mongolian women occupied the rest of the coupe, they were noisy, and I was ready to kick them of the train by force if necessary. It turned out they weren't even supposed to be in this cabin but their's had been occupied by som russians whom wouldn't get up.

Six hours by the border - fortunately the toilets were clean!

My grumpy mood this morning should soon be mollified though. I was standing in the hallway of the carriage consuming a survivalcracker in lack of better alternatives while I was thinking such crackers couldn't be intended for people with hangovers when suddenly one of the mongolian women asked me if I wanted a real breakfast.
Naturally I did and before I knew it they served an overwhelming morning buffet. I realized the first part of the day was saved in regards to food.

Relaxing at the border

Around noon we arrived at the border where we spent the rest of the day and evening. The 10-11 hours there didn't really seem to have any reason besides perhaps to make travellers go crazy.
We passed time by walking around in the not so charming surroundings, as well as catching up on some of the neglected sleep. I didn't have much succes with the latter part though.

Welcome to Mongolia

When we finally had passed the boundary-exceeding test of mental endurance and patience Manfred and I felt like celebrating it with a couple of beers. However that was not to be the case as the bar had run out of beers. Instead I went to bed early, which again shouldn't bring me much sleep though.
